DEVELOPING GAMING PCS FOR ESPORTS

Most competitive eSports titles are designed to be low barrier-to-entry and tend to be pretty well optimised, meaning you can run them on almost any system. But there’s a difference between ‘running’ these games and ‘winning’ them.

That’s why we optimise each of our systems to ensure you’re playing at high frame rates, high resolution and minimal latency. We utilise high-end graphics cards, super-fast CPUs and ultra-efficient cooling systems to deliver you more frames and reduced reaction times, because it’s true what they say, frames really do win games.

What PC specs do eSports pros use?

If you’re looking to become the next big star of the esports world, then its only natural to ask what the current pros are using, but this comes with a few caveats.

Firstly, the type of system they use will depend on what game they play, as there might be different optimisations required for the different games.

Secondly, the system that an eSports pro uses, is not always up to them. In a lot of tournaments, the systems requirements are set out by the organiser, so looking at the system they use doesn’t always give the best representation of what the best system is for your chosen game.

Instead, you should focus on the requirements of the games that you want to play and choose your components and system based on what is going to give you the best performance.

Can you play eSports on PC?

Yes! In fact, the majority of competitive eSports tournaments are held on PC.

How do I optimise my PC for eSports?

For most eSports players, an optimised PC means one that will play their chosen game at high frame rates, exceptional responsiveness and low latency.

The good news is that most eSports games are well optimised and designed to play on any system, so you can get a good eSports system for any budget, but if you’re serious about competing, we recommend a fast, multi-core processor, 32GB of RAM and either a 7000 series Radeon graphics card (such as the RX 7700XT or RX 7800 XT) or an NVIDIA GeForce 40-Series GPU, which includes tech like NVIDIA Reflex to optimise for minimal system latency. This means you can respond faster in game, and execute game-winning plays with greater accuracy.

Does RAM increase FPS?

RAM can help with FPS to a point (although the CPU and GPU will have a greater impact). Having more, faster RAM means that information can be delivered to the CPU quicker, as it needs it. If you don’t have sufficient RAM in your eSports gaming PC, you may experience; slow loading times, lagging or freezing, stuttering and crashing, and not being able to run multiple applications simultaneously.

Is 1080p better for eSports?

1080p refers to the resolution that you are playing your game at. Typically, playing at a lower resolution means you can speed up your frame rate, because the CPU and GPU can process more frames per second at a lower resolution, and those additional frames can give you the competitive advantage in-game. For the majority of serious eSports gamers, higher frame rates are more valuable than sharpness of image on the screen.
