Last year was definitely a year to go down in gaming history. New releases such as Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield put 2023 in the running for one of the greatest years of gaming we’ve ever seen. So, following on from year of quality releases, 2024 has a lot to live up to. So far, we are off to a great start with the release of some fantastic titles, such as the long-awaited sequels to Dragon’s Dogma and Helldivers, and the 8th instalment in the Tekken Series. But it doesn’t stop there, with big titles such as Star Wars: Outlaws and Homeworld 3 on the horizon, it looks like we're in for another year of fantastic gaming.

From open world adventures to action-packed survivals, here are five releases to look forward to in the month of May.

V Rising

Release date: 8th May

First dropping in 2022 for early access, this vampire survival adventure is now prepared for full launch on the 8th of this month. The plotline appears to go as follows – the player (a vampire) awakens from a century long slumber, weak and thirsty for blood. You must fight to rebuild your castle and convert humans into your devoted servants to raise your vampire empire. The game gives you the freedom to explore the open world horror solo or team up with versus multiplayer. Check out the official trailer below.

Homeworld 3

Release date: 13th May

The third edition of the Homeworld franchise lets players return to the iconic Homeworld sci-fi universe, more than 20 years after we first explored it. Set 100 years after Homeworld 2, the games award-winning storyline continues as players attempt to take control, explore, and battle through the 3D Homeworld galaxy aboard their own custom spaceship. As one of the most anticipated games of 2024, and having received promising initial reviews, we are eager to dive into the beautiful 3D galaxy to see what this newest edition has to offer. After a two-year delay from its initial release date in 2022, we weren’t sure if we were ever going to make it back to the Homeworld battlespace, but from what we know so far, it looks like it was worth the wait.

The Rogue Prince of Persia

Release date (early access): 14th May

Launching at the start of this year (Jan 24) the Prince of Persia: Lost crown quickly became a crowd favourite, earning a whole host of positive reviews. Following on from this, the creators of Dead Cells, Evil Empire are dropping the next instalment in the series, the Rogue Prince of Persia. Releasing on the 14th of May for early access, the newest game, like the original Prince of Persia Series is a 2D platformer but introduces, Metroidvania and Rogue-lite elements. In this new entry, players will move fluidly between dangerous platforming and acrobatic combat to be a hero and protect Persia from the Hun invasion.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut

Ghost of Tsushima is finally getting its long-awaited PC version this May. In this open-world adventure, players take the role of Jin Sakai, a samurai who risks his life and fights to protect Tsushima from the Mongol invaders. Players will voyage through the stunning Japanese countryside providing aid to civilians and taking on frequent sword battles to take out enemies. If you’re a fan of contemplative, visually stunning games accompanied by intense violence that will have you questioning the innate morality of your actions, then this is the game for you.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2

Released back in 2017, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice captivated players with its stunning graphics and attention to detail. Like many others, we can’t wait to dive back into Senua’s story in the highly anticipated sequel. Here’s what we know about the game so far. In the second instalment in the award-winning action-adventure series, the heroine returns to face a fierce journey of survival through Viking Iceland. The most recent trailer from the Game Awards 2023 displayed Senua navigating through a dark fantasy world, battling it out with enemies and evading ferocious attacks.
